Porzingis Suffers Right Soleus Strain

Kristaps Porzingis Injury Update: Celtics Center to Miss Multiple Games

Porzingis Suffers Right Soleus Strain

Impact on Boston's Playoff Run

Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis is expected to miss a minimum of several games with a right soleus strain suffered in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Miami Heat, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The injury occurred in the second quarter of Monday's game when Porzingis landed awkwardly after attempting a dunk. He immediately signaled to the bench and hobbled off the court.

The Celtics, who now lead the series 3-1, have been relying heavily on Porzingis' contributions in the playoffs. The 7-foot-3 Latvian is averaging 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the postseason. His absence will be a significant blow to Boston's hopes of advancing to the Eastern Conference finals.

The Celtics will have to adjust their lineup in Porzingis' absence. Robert Williams III, who has been starting at power forward, is likely to move to center. Grant Williams or Danilo Gallinari could be inserted into the starting lineup at power forward.

Game 5 of the series is scheduled for Wednesday in Miami. It is unclear if Porzingis will be able to return for that game or if he will miss more time.
