DJ Jo Whiley reveals she has had the Covid-19 vaccine

Radio 2 host says she’s been living ‘a nightmare' after being offered it before her sister who has a learning disability and diabetes.

The DJ, 54, said that her sister Frances has tested positive for coronavirus and spent time on oxygen. She said that she got a call late last night to say that her sister had tested positive for the virus. Frances, who is vulnerable, has a learning disability, diabetes and epilepsy.

In a message on social media, the DJ thanked the staff at Northwick Park Hospital in London for their ‘wonderful care' of her sister.

Whiley said that she had been offered the vaccine and got it, but added: “I have been living a nightmare. “My amazing sister is vulnerable and deserves a vaccine. I hope this doesn’t happen to you, but if it does, don’t give up. Stay strong. The NHS is there for you.”

The presenter did not specify when or where she received the vaccine but those over 50 became eligible in England last week.

It comes after Whiley previously spoke about her concerns for her sister, who she describes as her “best friend”.
